LMS Showcase: A Guided Tour of What's Working
Monday May 18, 2026 2:00pm - 2:45pm PDT
This session moves beyond button-by-button tutorials to focus on what actually works. In this peer-led showcase, faculty share the Learning Management System choices that have made a difference either as workaround, time-saver, or tools that are working well with students. Expect live demos and context you can only get from someone who's wrestled with the same constraints you have.

Universal Design for Learning (and why it's not about learning styles)
Monday May 18, 2026 3:00pm - 3:45pm PDT
In this introductory session, we'll discuss pragmatic approaches to UDL's three core principles, which are grounded in what cognitive psychology tells us about learning and memory. Representation: when students lack prior knowledge, multiple entry-points to a topic can help. Expression: familiar formats let students demonstrate learning with less friction. Engagement: finding meaning is a precondition for remembering. No prior knowledge of UDL required.

Tools for Auto-Transcription
Monday May 18, 2026 3:00pm - 3:45pm PDT
Auto-transcription tools use AI to convert audio to text quickly and affordably — but they're not perfect, and a light review pass is usually part of the workflow. What they produce, though, is a huge head start toward accessible and searchable course content, and with the right tool, you're halfway to captions too. This session covers auto-transcription we recommend, from built-in options in your L&C Zoom account, free options like YouTube, and more specialized tools that offer more precision and control for heavier transcription needs. We'll also cover what's good to know before you or your students hit record.

Before and After the Zoom Meeting
Tuesday May 19, 2026 3:00pm - 4:00pm PDT
Problems that can derail a Zoom meeting, a late host, no back-up or co-host, wrong recording settings, a guest who can't get in, are almost always preventable with the right setup beforehand. This 45-minute session covers Zoom settings and configurations to set before you send an invite such as alternative hosts, scheduling privileges, waiting rooms, and more. The second half focuses on managing automatically created records from the meeting. What to do with recordings, how to manage recordings, and more. Walk away with a before-and-after checklist you can actually use.
