The "Vibe" Shift
Tuesday May 19, 2026 9:00am - 9:45am PDT
Start thinking like an innovator! In this session, we explore "vibe coding"—the shift from rigid syntax to natural language instructions that drive powerful software. We’ll demystify how AI translates your "intent" into functional logic, setting the stage for a new era of academic agency where your ideas are the primary currency.

SAGE3: Enhancing Collaboration with Real-Time Interactive Technology
Tuesday May 19, 2026 9:00am - 9:45am PDT
Developed at the University of Hawai‘i for their interactive Lava Lab, SAGE3 is a real-time collaborative platform for shared visual thinking and interactive learning environments. In this session, we will explore how SAGE3 can be used to support student collaboration in real time on a shared digital canvas, allowing learners to organize ideas, share media, and work together across devices. We will also look at how SAGE3 can be used as a non-hierarchical alternative to traditional slide-based lectures, where ideas are presented and developed as a networked workspace rather than a linear presentation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop.

Mapping out the "User Story."
Tuesday May 19, 2026 10:00am - 11:00am PDT
Every great tool starts with a clear narrative, not a line of code. You will map out the "User Story" for your dream academic application, breaking down complex tasks into a logical, step-by-step blueprint. By the end of this hour, you’ll have a structural foundation ready for the AI to breathe life into.

Talking with Students About AI: Shifting the Campus Culture around AI
Tuesday May 19, 2026 10:00am - 11:00am PDT
The title of a recent academic article from Fu et al. (2026), “Everyone’s using it, but no one is allowed to talk about it”: College students’ experiences navigating the higher education environment in a generative AI world,” perfectly encapsulates the culture of shame, fear, and secrecy around AI that exists at many campuses, including Lewis & Clark. This session will draw on insights from a qualitative analysis of the AI Community Dialogues to help participants better understand the culture of AI at Lewis & Clark. In addition, this session will offer participants practical ideas and strategies for fostering an AI culture grounded in openness, curiosity, listening, learning, collaboration, and critical reflection.

Before and After the Zoom Meeting
Tuesday May 19, 2026 3:00pm - 4:00pm PDT
Problems that can derail a Zoom meeting, a late host, no back-up or co-host, wrong recording settings, a guest who can't get in, are almost always preventable with the right setup beforehand. This 45-minute session covers Zoom settings and configurations to set before you send an invite such as alternative hosts, scheduling privileges, waiting rooms, and more. The second half focuses on managing automatically created records from the meeting. What to do with recordings, how to manage recordings, and more. Walk away with a before-and-after checklist you can actually use.
